Little Rosie

Cynthia Banks adopted Rosie in 2004. Little Rosie is named in honor of a homeless woman in Mexico who kept this little dog safe in a harsh and unsafe environment for years. Rosie's was injured as a puppy and her front leg was left crooked and crippled. Homeless Rosie unselfishly gave up little Rosie to have a better life in America. The photo shows Rosie giving little Rosie to UHA volunteer Laura Sandoval

Cynthia wrote: When I come home from work - she has the cutest little "cry" that she does for about 5 seconds until I lay on the ground and let her climb all over me and lick my face!! Of course Buddy does it too - so I'm on the floor for a while!

Rosie has gained a pound since she's been with us. I love her more and more - everyday................. Thank you again for her - and make sure that "Big" Rosie knows that her girl in GREAT HANDS!! Trust me when I say that it's "my pleasure" - this little girl makes my smile so hard my cheeks hurt.

EVERYONE at her vet's office ADORES her - she is so loved where ever she is!! She gets so cold sometimes - so we bought her 3-6 month old baby T-shirts pink and white of course -to help keep her warm. She loves to bed-mole - that is sneak under the covers on the bed when we are sleeping, and curl up next to my side. All my friends and neighbors just love her so much. I did have her arm re-x-rayed by her vet - we saw what he thinks is a bone fungus on her ribs - but we will have the biopsy back this week. Doctor said a steady stream of antibiotics should help it - and may actually help her limp a little less hard on her. Even with this - she is happy, loving and the sweetest little girl ever. At first she wasn't very vocal - but her "older brother" Buddy - has helped her to learn to bark only when someone knocks at the door. Once she sees that it's a friendly person, her tail goes into propeller mode. You ladies are without a doubt, ANGELS on earth. I love you for what you do!

And will never forget you for bringing Rosie to me!

To the left are photos taken of little Rosie in August 2005. Cynthia has taking Rosie to a specialist to treat her crippled front leg. There was no operation needed they just used a good diet and massive doses of antibiotic to heal the leg. The specialist discovered that her crippled legs were due to a fungal infection which was attacking her bones. Her environment and diet had caused her illness. She looks like a different dog! Not only does she now have muscle but both her front legs are strong and straight! Cynthia said that she can run like a true terrier now!

Below are current photos of 'healthy Rosie' with her constant companion Buddy.
