United Hope for Animals - With Your Help There is Hope

Samson

With a great deal of passion, the United Hope for Animals volunteers donate their time, resources, and skills to helping the animals of Tijuana. The story below reveals the heart of the United Hope group. Mostly the story below is about a very unfortunate.... yet fortunate little cocker spaniel named Samson.

Samson's 1st snow fall in Canada

No need to worry about Samson now, he spends most of his time lounging inside and he always sleeps inside a warm and cozy house with his family; he also loves to play in the snow. The above photos show the happy ending to Samson's story. He is now a well cuddled and greatly loved, family dog, living in his permanent home on Vancouver Island Canada. However: samson's story below

We received a very disturbing call from Javier, a United Hope for Animals’ volunteer who lives in Tijuana. Javier called one day with one of the most horrific stories we have heard yet come out of Tijuana. He was driving back from the perrera (dog pound) where he was doing some research for the United Hope group when he saw a man on the side of the road with a dog that looked to be in distress. Javier stopped to help. He thought that possibly the dog had been hit by a car and the man was trying to help the dog.

Javier stopped the car and ran across the street over to the scene. What he saw he will never forget. The man had taken black electrical tape and wound it around the front and back paws of a young cocker spaniel. He had also wound tape around the dog’s muzzle. Javier found the man torturing the dog by chocking him with a piece of wire around his neck. The dog was struggling for his life. This man was doing this while his wife and 2 small children watched. Javier pushed the man off the cocker, and raged at him yelling that he would “forever be plagued with poverty for what he had done to this innocent dog”!!! Javier took the wire from the dog’s neck and rushed him to the vet.

Samson has since made a full recover. We named him Samson because like the luggage he can survive anything. He is about a 4 1/2 years old Springer Spaniel. Samson is extremely loving and very playful. He is still full of trust and love despite his experience.

Below are some photos of Samson’s injuries. Samson healed amazingly well and is now living on Vancouver Island with a loving family. Samson was saved because of a growing network of caring people coming together, with the common goal of making a difference in the lives of animals.

Samson’s medical needs have gone beyond his neck wound. He was almost totally blind when we rescued him. We took him to an eye specialist in Pasadena called Eye Care for Animals. With the right treatment Samson now has most of his eye sight back!

Please help us rescue and treat the next Samson in need! This is a hands on group at the front line of animal rescue and without your support our work would not be possible.
