Please help end the cycle of suffering - Become part of the solution - spay and neuter.
Volunteer to attend one of our Clinics
Volunteering to help at our spay/neuter clinics is one of the most satisfying life experiences a person can have. There is no overnight stay and you do not need to take your own car.
The group meets in San Diego and travels to Tijuana the morning of the clinic. Drivers are members who know the roads in Mexico, and the group leaves the clinic in the late afternoon to bring everyone back to San Diego.
Although we always need people with veterinary backgrounds, medical experience is NOT necessary to make a wonderful contribution to assuring that the animals receive the highest quality of medical care. We offer hands-on training by qualified technicians and free training seminars at different times during the year in San Diego or L.A. For volunteers who prefer to help in a less medical capacity, making sure the animals are kept warm or stroking them in a loving fashion as they awake in recovery is also incredibly valuable.
Many of our staff and volunteers have expressed feelings of joyous camaraderie and a deep sense of accomplishment while working the clinics. This definitely unites our group. More than anything, we have all been touched by this unique opportunity to meet, assist and connect with the Mexican families who love their animals yet lack the funds to sterilize them. These pet owners then take their positive experiences back into their impoverished neighborhoods and enlighten their friends about the value of spaying and neutering. The word does get around. Change is happening! It is our life's commitment that this education will extend across Mexico as United Hope for Animals works to open more free sterilization clinics throughout the country, bringing an end to the suffering before it begins.
A recent email from a volunteer who attended one of our clinics sums up the experience:
Thank you so much for the opportunity to help out at your clinic last Sunday. As I held each animal I found myself thinking that never again would they have to give birth in the bushes and then end up watching as their babies starved or are hit by cars. I looked at the fifty eight dogs and cats that we treated and my heart just soared with the knowledge that from just one day's work, I was a part of preventing hundreds of thousands of animals from being born to suffer with terrible lives. I will definitely be coming back! Erica Reynolds.
